Fifth generation South Eastern Washington wheat farmer that is currently working for the neighbors. I left the family farm to go and do my own thing. Come with me, as I take you in the cab through some of the steepest farmland in America. Business inquiries @ struthersfarming@gmail.com
What do we feed cattle?
We are stacking triticale bales and putting them in the barn with the alfalfa bales. Front end loader is a CAT and the little tractor is a John Deere. Harvest is starting in about a week. Get your popcorn out, it should be a good one!

We are in Washington state mowing dead weeds and stubble in a John Deere T track with a Schulte rotary mower behind it. 26' wide with 5 gearboxes, she is quite the machine. Jump in the cab with me for a bit as I take you on a short ride with me. Farming dryland wheat can be a challenge, but we are willing to accept that challenge. Have a good one! Replacing sickle sections for a combine header

In this video I show how the sickle sections (knives) are replaced on a sickle bar that goes on a John Deere combine. It is the part that goes back and forth and cuts the straw when harvesting. Have a good one!
Rogueing: How do farmers keep their fields clean?
Просмотров 846Месяц назад
I pulled over to show how we pull rye and explain what rye looks like compared to wheat and even found a bit of oats to show as well. Farming requires a lot of work, but so does anything worth doing. We in agriculture need to show more about what we deal with and what bugs us. Rye is a big one for me. I can't wait for AI drones to locate and pull the rye for me, then it will be done. Even if I ...
Combine harvester on fire! Fire department comes
Просмотров 10 тыс.Месяц назад
My combine lit on fire while cutting wheat in Prescott Washington while at work. This was the 3rd and final fire I had during the 2023 harvest when working for James Farms. It was stressful and if I missed any editing of words out, I apologize. There was an original video but it did not show nearly any of what happened. I was driving my combine on some steep hillsides while farming and my combine started smelling hot and my radio was not working well. I thought I could have a combine fire on my hands soon and I was not wrong. This is the first part of a mult-part video about the fire that day. This was recorded in 2023 on the 2nd day of harvest. Palouse bluegrass farm - Haeg Farms

I traveled to a farm in The Palouse and talked with a farmer there as we rode around in his tractor. We are in an agricultural tractor that is used here to apply fertilizer and control weeds with herbicides. New Holland SP410F 120 feet wide booms. This is a bluegrass farm on The Palouse in Idaho and Chad Haeg was kind enough to let me ride around with him for a bit and discuss the history of hi...
How do tractors spray steep farmland in America?
Просмотров 26 тыс.2 месяца назад
Infamous for having the steepest farmland in North America, the Skyrockets in Washington state at the fringe of the Palouse are a lot for a modern tractor to handle. Modern agriculture and farming practices lead to agriculture being a bit sketchy for the operators. Here is a quick ride with me in my tractor at work. Have a good one!

She is a GREAT ! 😊😊😊
Did I miss something, your last boss committed suicide? shit that's a kick the nuts. So you're working for a different place? Nut up man, the only consistent thing is misery, learn to enjoy the suck. Been farming all my life, 40 years, and it's been pretty much a shit show.
Thanks for the blog 😉 enjoyed
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Trevor. I'm sorry you're going through a challenging period. This happens to us all from time to time, just hang on in there and hopefully another opportunity will present its self. Be vigilant!
Thanks Charles! i will stay the path, it is just hard to see it sometimes.
Moving to Mexico to farm an orchard sounds great. Sign me up!
I know right? Make it a bed and breakfast and charge all my buddies to come visit as well.
Great vlog! I enjoyed it. Farming in the part of the US interests me. Thanks 👊🏻💪🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is this near Pomeroy?
30 miles or so downriver from there. Off the snake
She got it! Aloha 🌸🌸🌸
Great Video Trevor, thats an impressive piece of kit both the tractor and the batwind mower, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony!
😊😂😂❤
Too bad you couldn’t have added the Push It song to this. 😂
Lol. Yeah! Maybe i could have in shorts? I am careful with music though. I want all .03 cents from this video.
Have you ever rolled one
I havent but ive seen pictures. I been doing this since forever
No reservations! She was smiling.
Dang. I’m pregnant now.
Lmfao
Super kool kid looks really good.😊
She went right for it. No hesitation 😂 I love her
I'm sure you danced the same way as a toddler back in the 80's😂
Thanks Trevor, you're doing a fine job out there!
I appreciate that! Thank you charles!
Nice video in new to me country. Does the wind turbine RF mess with the drone. I would think there might be some interference. Any way thanks for the ride.
I havent noticed any issues yet. One day this will be sprayed by a drone i bet.
Thanks Trevor. Great country and impressive pictures.
Many thanks John. Harvest starts in 2 weeks
Great pictures 😃
Thank you Christian.
Your videography keeps getting better and better! I saw a video from another farmer fixing their ph by spreading calcium on their field. Do you guys have to do that? If so what kind of equipment is used that works on hills?
If we apply calcium, it is in solution 32. We apply it and top dress the wheat while we spray for weeds. A bit of fertilizer in the water
Hello Trevor 👍🍻🤣🇮🇹
Hello there Francesco. Cheers!
@@TrevorStruthers 👋👋👋🤝
another great video keep up dude and one day u will be famous
Appreciate it. One day
Great video - center pusher belt lock up tight that is where the fires are-mashin break- cooling💯
💯
süper Love that country, great job y’all💯
Thank you for all the comments. Harvest is starting in a few weeks and i will be back cutting wheat.
maybe it is more sliding because of the untypical profile on the front tires (no V-profile)
the profile of the front tires is special. nomally the V-profile is used on tractor and combine driven wheels. Why not here?
We want the combine to slide a little on the hills and to not dig so much in our soft soil. We dont want big trenches on the hills
@@TrevorStruthers I see 😄
Shower after this dirty job?
is this Randy?
It is ron, my friend who got me the job with Randy.
Pays to have your own fire fighting equipment even if it’s 2nd hand save a fortune in time and money. It only needs a stone to cause a spark, have your fire fighting gear near by.
How steep is the percent slope there?
We fogure its in the lower to upper 30s in degrees. I always joke and say its 32nd degree (freemason joke) but we unload on the go up to about 28 degrees if the field allows it. Some of the fields are all too steep to unload on the go.
😮😮😮😢😢
always great vids from a great guy
Glad you like them!
I worked on a dairy farm in Wisconsin Hardest job I ever had
WheelingDairy on youtube would agree with you. That work never ends
Why u run multiple antennas?
It was some old timer with a bunch of antennas for who knows what. Looked like a ham radio antenna.
Great Video Trevor, the JD on tracks is spectacular, thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it tony. I am glad to be back in a tractor.
Trevor, thanks for another excellent video. I wish you many great days with your new employer.
Many thanks John! Me too.
Nice video Trevor. Interesting stuff in the new location. It will be fun to see new country.
Hope so! Thanks Bruce
Thanks Trevor, good to see you driving a Deere!
More to come! They have red machines also, but this will be my chariot for a while.
YOU must be working further west hope still as happy as before sometimes hard not work at home , does always work out. Good luck with your new adventures.
Yeah, something happened at the last place and I chose to move on instead of being on unemplyoment. The new farm is full of great guys and I am really lucky they found me.
Are you by the Kellogg rd
Something like that.
Hi, you might want to get an nd filter for your drone lens. I think it’s over exposing the video just an idea..
I think you are right. Yeah it is really overexposed on the bright days, maybe I accidentaly locked a setting. I am filiming in D-Log and coloring in Adobe afterwards.
Magnifique vidéo et le tracteur à chenille et le broyeur est bien équipés 😮😅😊
Things and what not
That's a technical phrase that not everyone can understand, but most can.
Is that batwing stealth bomber mower basically a giant brush hog or something entirely different? I remember the videos you did with one in the Quad Track so assuming they need a lot of power if you’re using a 9RT here?
Yeah its a big ol brush hog with Italian gear boxes that those Italians are quite proud of. When they need replaced you can see how proud they truly are.
@@TrevorStruthers to be fair it is quite impressive! I’d be pretty proud too! 😂
We farm over here SE of Pendleton, OR in Athena. We find that mowing after wheat harvest is a must, especially with the amount of rain we get and the taller varieties of wheat we grow. We also have our crops in a rotation with peas and fallow. Chopping up that straw before the tillage makes an insane difference and we can notice it in the spring when we go to seed peas. It’s a very time consuming process especially with the 5026 but it’s worth it and we’re looking to get a bigger one.
Agreed! My dad is mowing while harvest is still going on. He has the luxury of custom cutters that come in though. He mows it, then harrows it and eventually turbo tills it as well to make a good seed bed. We are a bit short on the moisture band, so we stay away from the peas but we wish we could increase the soil health with something like that though. Thanks for tuning in! Local boys and whatnot. Have a good one!
